Sizzling Through The Season Week 7- Philly

Rejoice it finally happened, the Giants beat the Washington Football Team, it may have been ugly but it still counts. The Giants are now 1-5 and is in the thick of things in the NFC East Race. They head to Philadelphia on Thursday night to face hated rivals the Eagles.

This week dish was a no brainer, of course I had to pay homage to The Philly by making the Philly Cheesesteaks. It really is one of those meals that if you love steak, cheese and Italian bread how can you possibly not love it. Like I mentioned in my video there are just so many good cheesesteak spots that I couldn’t just mention one restaurant. Each one adds their own flair. Below I will you the recipe and how you can enhance it. I went with the Cheez Whiz this go around because I wanted to treat ourselves for this rare meal. You really can put any cheese you want, but if you want a real taste of it one, the traditional cheeses to use are Cheez Whiz, American or Provolone cheeses.

Philly Cheesesteaks

INGREDIENTS:

Philly Cheesesteak Marinade

1 1/2 pounds Sirloin Steak, Thinly Sliced

3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce

2 cloves Garlic, Minced

1/2 teaspoon Salt

1/2 teaspoon Pepper

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches

2 whole Medium Sized Onions, Thinly Sliced

2 whole Bell Peppers, Seeds Removed and Thinly Sliced

1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil

6 whole Hoagie Rolls

1- Jar of Cheezwiz

INSTRUCTIONS:

Philly Cheesesteak Marinade

  1. In a medium sized bowl or large ziploc bag combine sirloin steak, worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt and pepper. 
  2. Stir until well combined and refrigerate for 20 minutes or overnight.

Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches

  1. In a large skillet heat 1tblsp of olive oil over medium-high heat until hot. Add onion and saute until onion starts to caramelize. Add bell peppers and cook until softened. Push onions and peppers to the side of pan or remove to bowl.
  2. Add marinated sirloin and cook until brown on the outside. Stir into peppers and remove from heat. (Leave this step out if you don’t like peppers and onion like me)
  3. In a microwave safe bowl, heat up the Cheez Whiz on high heat for about 30-45 seconds stirring half way.
  4. Once Cheez Whiz is melted, time to assemble the sandwich. Add the sliced steak, peppers and onions and cheese on the hoagie roll. Serve and enjoy!
