After spending all week in Detroit the Giants face off vs the Lions at Ford field for their second preseason game.
It seemed like a productive week for both teams having each other to train with. Didn’t seem like there was any drama at all. Both teams where there to get better and professional unlike how a few other joint practices had been this week. I’m interested to see if any tempers flair up during the game since both teams have seen each other three times this week. That’s normally what happens.
Giants to watch-
- Davis Webb- Just like last week he is going to be getting the bulk of playing time today. After reading everyone’s reports this week. He looked good again at practice. Hopefully this week with live bullets flying he preforms better and locks up QB 2 spot.
- Wayne Gallman- The second year running back will be getting to run with the first team offense since Saquon Barkley will be sideline due to a hamstring injury. He is one of my personal favorites on the team. He had a few good moments last season. I truly feel that he going to have a big role this season especially when Barkley needs to take a breather.
- Kerry Wynn- Mr Preseason himself. He always seems to be the forgotten man every offseason until preseason starts and he makes plays to sure himself to make the team. He is a key member of the outside linebackers core that can get to the quarterback when need be. They are looking to use him in the Justin Tuck role as a defensive Tackle in the Nickel Package to get the extra pass rusher on the line to get to the quarterback. It will be interesting to see how he excels at that spot.
- Kerryon Johnson- The rookie running back out of Auburn will be my rookie to watch on the lions today. I really loved watching him play for the Auburn Tigers the last few years. It might end up being rough rookie for him because of the crowed running back unit for the Lions. But tonight he will be getting a load of carries and I’m interested to see how his success can carry over from last weeks game.
Just like last week all we can hope for is the starters to look good and crisp and stay healthy. It’s really going to be up for the second and third teams guys play to make an name for themselves and make the coaches to have hard decisions on cut down day.
